For example, if the range for non-mages is 400-500k, then mages should be in the 200-300k range or something. As it stands, they should definitely deal the worst DPS, which should lie outside that 100k gap. But here they are buffed so that not only can they boss, but bishops out-DPS half the classes, all mages > shad/bw, AND their FMAs were left intact. It's obviously unbalanced, and that is why their bossing capabilities were non-existent in vanilla v83. Now earlier, I excluded mages from their 100k gap range because of their FMA, which is always a controversial topic and especially in this server.

I feel that haste doesn't have much impact on bossing, so I put thieves in the latter category, but feel free to argue otherwise. For example, classes with supportive party skills (archer, DK, bucc, hero) should deal more DPS on their own, but in bosses (buffed by party members), classes without such skills (NL/Cors/shad/pally/aran) should deal more DPS. Also, some classes deserve to deal more or less DPS than others, based on whether they have supportive skills. I suggested a 100k gap because a 100k difference means that at most, the highest ranked class deals 6m DPM more than the lowest rank, which is acceptable, I hope. Of course, this range (like 400-500k vs 600-700k) can be adjusted based on the time it takes to kill the end-game bosses. It would be great if every class DPS is reworked to be within that 100,000 range (except mages). However, comparing Wind Archer to DK (910,000), it would be infuriating to know that another class is bound to deal twice your damage. Wind Archer (438,000) are somewhat equally viable, so hopefully it wouldn't be too discouraging to play a Wind Archer (the worst) relative to the others in that bracket. Looking at the left-most table, this means classes from Aran (508,000). Then, they can pick what they want because they enjoy the class skills and/or playstyle.įirst, I was thinking that the gap between the min & max DPS class should be no greater than 100,000 (subject to change), based on the chart. The goal of this post is to figure out how we can balance all classes (regarding their DPS) such that players don't need to worry about creating a class that has "terrible DPS". Since bosses have a simple attack pattern, all players need to do is sit there and hold one key => no need for strategy.Crowd control effects don't work on bosses, so classes that have such skills are less valuable (ex: unlike GMS, I/L can't freeze bosses). There's no tank (warriors just have high hp, they're not drawing aggro) or support (bishops don't count anymore, since they mostly spam angel ray).

This is because roles don't exist, and they're not necessary to succeed in the game.

In this game, DPS is the only thing that matters regarding class balance.
